Using AI Search

Using AI Search

The Help Pages system includes AI-powered semantic search. Instead of matching exact keywords, the search understands the meaning of your question and returns relevant answers drawn from all installed help content.

How to Search

Enter a question or phrase into the search box on the left side of the help page and press Enter. For example:

  • "How do I upload a help article?"
  • "What is a collection?"
  • "How are help topics organized?"

Understanding Search Results

Search results are displayed in two parts:

AI Answer — A generated response that synthesizes information from the most relevant help content. This answer is written in natural language and may combine information from multiple help articles to directly answer your question.

Sources — Below the AI answer, a list of the help content chunks that were used to generate the answer. Each source shows the heading and a short excerpt so you can verify where the information came from.

When AI Search Is Not Available

If the OpenAI API Key has not been configured in site properties, the system falls back to basic text search. Basic text search matches the exact characters you type against the content of all help files and returns lines that contain the match. If you see results without an AI Answer section, the API key may not be set. Contact your site developer to configure it.

Tips for Better Results

  • Ask complete questions rather than single words. "How do I add a help article to a collection?" returns better results than just "article."
  • The search covers all help content installed on the site, including content from every addon collection that includes help files.
  • Administrators see help content written for guests, members, and administrators. Developers also see developer-level content and field help documentation.
