Adding Email to Your Marketing Mix

TV and radio marketing are similar to shouting out at a larger group of people. However internet marketing is more like a personal conversation, and email is one of the great tools for internet marketing when used strategically.

Email can be used to track behaviors, such as who opened the email and who didn’t, which links/offers got clicked on and which ones didn’t.  Email can be used to segment out your audience, such as past purchasers, (since you attended session “A” at the last meeting you may be interested in the publication by the leader of the session). 

Remember though there is a lot of competition for eyes and time with email.  In fact more than 50% od all promotional emails get deleted before opening, and 50% of those that get opened are deleted within 2 seconds of opening. However, those that do not get deleted have been shown to result in 47% of the transactions that occur on that day of delivery (www.bizreport.com).  So, just like all marketing methods email is a numbers game, but with the right tools it is an effective and inexpensive way to reach your customers.
