Celebrate Fairfax and KMAnet—A “Dynamic” Duo

KMAnet, a leading vendor of Content Management Software (CMS) is working with Celebrate Fairfax to deliver Dynamic content about Celebrate Fairfax’s annual events. Utilizing their Contensive Software Solution, KMAnet has given Celebrate Fairfax the ability to manage, deliver and create content on the fly and without Webmaster support.

Celebrate Fairfax first used the Contensive CMS to help them manage the enormous administrative process for volunteers. With the system, Celebrate Fairfax is able to post all of the available jobs with descriptions. Volunteers can then come to the web to review the available openings and “reserve” the times and jobs they want. Celebrate Fairfax was also able to “block” off certain jobs and assign them to specific Corporations who are slated to fill those positions. Through a password protected area the “Corporate Administrator” can assign individuals to fill those positions and track their companies responsiveness to filling the Volunteer slots.

The system tracks all of the volunteers and assigns username and password access for those volunteers to review their commitments. The system also facilitates the ability to send personalized bulk email to volunteers to inform them of events or remind them of their commitments. The system was very well received and even won a “Pinnacle” award for best volunteer system from the International Festivals and Events Association, competing with events such as the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Kentucky Derby.

For 2002 Celebrate Fairfax has decided to expand the system into their entire web presence. This will enable them to create schedules for entertainment, manage press releases, contact information and descriptions of events and activities. The system is completely browser based, so no client side application is necessary and it is non-technical so everyone on their staff can participate in content creation and management without the knowledge of programming.

KMAnet has extensive roots in the area. The founders of the company are a rarity in that they are truly northern Virginians having lived here for more than 30 years.
